I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The University of Colorado at Boulder. I previously worked at Children’s Hospital Colorado, and was a pediatric counselor for twelve years before becoming a Certified Sleep Sense Consultant.
I currently reside in Castle Rock, Colorado with my husband, two dogs, and two children born in 2016 and 2018.
When my first child was born, I didn’t know what hit me. An overtired baby who screamed hours on end led me to feel overwhelmed, depressed and helpless. At this point, I had never heard of sleep consultants, nor did I know that it was okay to ask for help. Everyone said it “will get better”, “it’s normal”… I did NOT feel normal. Someone had ripped out my patient, loving, happy self from my saggy, swollen, postpartum body and replaced it with an angry, sad, anxious and incredibly tired woman. Why was it so widely accepted that parents are sleepy zombies who must continue to function at the same level they were capable of pre baby?
This doesn’t have to be you, I’m here to help.
Well, I got through that first year with a lot of coffee and a lot of hard work. I became obsessed with sleep and after hearing from friends who used sleep consultants, I knew this is what I wanted to do. Leave no sleepy parent behind!
After researching several sleep consulting programs, it was clear to me that Sleep Sense was the best of the best. I was pregnant with my second child when I made the decision to jump into this career, and guess what? My second child sleeps like an angel. People constantly asked me “how are you sleeping” expecting that my answer would run along the lines of “what sleep”?
I loved to see the look of surprise on their face when my response was “we are sleeping great”.
This can be you, I’m here to help.
